Cruise on Lake Koman and the Shala River

The mysterious north of Albania

This is a unique trip for lovers of stunning nature. Sightseeing begins on the bus.  Once we pass the last big city, cell phones will lose service, and we will start crossing the mountain road along Lake Vau i Dejës.

After reaching the marina of Lake Koman, we will board the awaiting motor boats. Sailing between the mountains, whose soaring slopes fall straight into the emerald water of the lake, we will escape civilization. Our destination is the valley of the Shala River which is the gate to the famous Accursed Mountains.

The Shala River is one of the cleanest rivers in Europe. Its fabulous color and refreshing temperature encourage you to take a dip on a hot day. On its shore, we will forget about the modern world, indulging in blissful relaxation while eating local delicacies such as homemade byrek and bread, potatoes baked in a stone oven, goat’s cheese, grilled trout, and meat with country lettuce. We will get to know the flavors of the Albanian shepherds’ cuisine of this region. We will also not forget about the obligatory, “gëzuar,” rakia toast!

People who like active holidays will be able to go with our guide for a short hike (light level) to the observation deck, from which you can see the valley of the Shala River.* It is called “Albanian Thailand” by tourists because of the azure color of the water, the vibrant green of the rocks, and the colorful boats, which together bring to mind Ko Phi Phi Bay.

*Hiking to the view point is reserved for those with appropriate sports shoes and who are over 12 years of age.
